As the back-to-school season quickly approaches, the families served by GoochlandCares are often left wondering how they are going to make it all happen for their children. Between expensive school supplies, growing children in need of new school clothes, and sports or activity needs, the budgets of low-income parents are stretched to the limit each fall. Those receiving services may already be struggling with meeting their family’s basic food, housing, health, and safety needs. That is why your support is so important. GoochlandCares’s Clothes Closet eases the financial burden for individuals and families with your donations, even after the first day of school. We are always collecting the following items:
- New underwear – sizes toddler to young adult
- New lunchboxes
- New school supplies and earphones
- New or like new children socks – all types and sizes
- New or like new closed toe children’s shoes – for classes or sports
- New or like new school clothes and light jackets
- New or like new backpacks
- New or like new linens, towels, and washcloths
