For updates about volunteering the COVID-19 crisis, please click here.

GoochlandCares partners with local universities, colleges and job-training programs to offer placement for students enrolled or having completed courses that require real-life experience. Placement is made through the educational institution (e.g. VCU, ProTrain, University of Richmond, J. Sargent Reynolds Community College, John Tyler Community College), and all intern and student volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application.

  • Clinic volunteers must be at least 18 years old and no longer in high school. If you are a high school student, please click here.
  • Students are asked to commit to 6 months or a semester of volunteering depending on the program.

Internships are offered for:

  • Certified Medical Assistants (upon completion of job-training program)
  • Certified Nurse Assistants (upon completion of job-training program)
  • Dental Hygiene Students (enrolled in Dental Hygiene School)
  • Dental Students (enrolled in Dental School)
  • Public Relations/Marketing/Communications Students (enrolled in college level program)
  • Social Workers (enrolled in BSW or MSW program)

If you are enrolled in a course that requires an internship not listed above, please contact Diane Reale at to discuss opportunities.  If you are a high school student, please go to General Volunteers.
