by Alexandra Herrera and Quinta Pace (GFCFS volunteers from Goochland High School) El Lehre, a volunteer at the Goochland Free Clinic is 72 years of age and was born and raised in California. He attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Ed moved to Goochland with his wife in 1981 and built their home in 1982. He got his Masters Degree at MCV to become a physical therapist. Ed and his wife are devoted members to Hope Church. Ed has been a dedicated volunteer to the Goochland Free Clinic for two years and volunteers once a week. Ed heard about the Goochland Free Clinic through general word of mouth and The Goochland Gazette. His motivation to volunteer is because he wants to give back to his community and to keep his skills sharp. When Ed volunteers it makes him feel good that he is able to help people who are less fortunate. He feels that he is doing the work that God wants him to do. He also volunteers with a prison ministry. In his spare time he enjoys taking on projects with his wife such as working around the house or making hands-on projects. Ed’s goals in the future are to keep helping as much as he can for as long as he can. Ed is a valuable volunteer of the Goochland Free Clinic and we appreciate everything he does.
